Andrew Reed had a career night with five goals to help the Utah Skatin’ Utes defeat the Metro State Roadrunners Friday in Littleton, CO. Scoring happened quickly and often as Utah jumped to a 2-0 lead less than four minutes into the game with two goals by Reed. He picked up his third of the night near the end of the period and Utah never looked back.
Utah (14-12) held on to the lead throughout the game scoring four times in the second to extend the lead to 8-4 going to the third period. Metro State (5-23) cut the lead to three early in the third period with Turner Bahn’s third goal of the game. But Utah was too much adding another goal to make it 9-4 halfway through the period.
On Saturday, Utah went up to Greeley to take on the 6th ranked Northern Colorado Bears. The game was tight halfway through the game until a short-handed goal by the Bears (16-14-1) opened the floodgates and Northern Colorado led 4-0 after two periods. Utah (14-13) put in a goal early in the third by Andrew Reed, but could not put anything else on the board as the Skatin’ Utes fell 5-1.
Next up for Utah is the last game of the year against BYU on Thursday. After the rivalry game, the Utes will play Montana State at Steiner on Friday and at the E-Center on Saturday.
