Salt Lake City, Utah
The University of Utah Hockey has received a commitment from Forward Liam Meffert for the upcoming 2023-24 season.
Liam was born in Newport, Rhode Island, and moved to Utah when he was 8. It wasn’t until 4 years later that he laced up skates for the first time. He played for a rec league for 2 years before playing for the Park City Ice Miners during his freshman year of high school. He became extremely passionate about the game and set a goal to play college hockey.
Meffert set his eyes toward his goal and continued to play at the high school level with Utah High School Hockey for the Ice Miners and the Skyline High School Eagles. During his Junior year with the Eagles, the team won State and he served as an Alternate Captain his senior year. During his Junior and Senior years, he also played for the Utah Jr. Grizzlies 18U team.
“I feel that I have developed my game beyond expectations in my short experience playing. I’m extremely excited to work with the Utes and develop myself even further,” says Meffert.
“We’re looking forward to having Liam on the team this season. His size and fantastic skating ability will be a big addition to our group this year,” said Men’s Division 2 Head Coach Nick Fornelius.
Meffert plans to study Nursing at the U.
Utah Hockey would like to welcome Liam and wish him the absolute best in the upcoming season!
