The University of Utah Hockey has received a commitment from Goaltender Caroline Steegmans for the upcoming 2023-24 season.
Caroline started on the ice in figure skates when she was 4 years old. She laced up hockey skates when she was 6 years old and never looked back. Two years later, after trying her hand at both forward and defense, she found herself as a part-time goalie. She permanently made the move to goaltender a year later. “This is a decision that I do not regret one bit. Sometimes I miss skating out and feeling the cold wind hit me in the face skating full speed down the ice but in the crease was where I was meant to be,” says Steegmans.
Steegmans has played for the San Jose Jr. Sharks u16 team and the Dallas Stars Elite.
“Caroline is going to add even more strength to our goaltending. She’s a very athletic goalie that is driven to get better every day. Her work ethic is very high and will push all the other players around her,” said Women’s Division 1 Head Coach Rodney Stedt.
Steegmans plans to study General Studies at the U.
Utah Hockey would like to welcome Caroline and wish her the absolute best in the upcoming season!
