The University of Utah Hockey has received a commitment from Forward Tyler Sunagel for the upcoming 2023-24 season.
Tyler grew up in Plymouth, Wisconsin, where he developed a passion for ice hockey. He showcased his skills as a player for the Sheboygan Red Raiders during his 3 years of high school, earning recognition as an all-conference player his junior year. In addition to his high school commitment, Sunagel also played for Team Wisconsin during both the pre and post-high school seasons.
During his Senior year, he had the opportunity to play Junior Hockey in Missouri for the St. Louis Jr. Blues. Following that memorable experience, he continued his hockey journey out west, playing for the Great Falls Americans in Montana for a season and the Gillette Wild in Wyoming for the following two seasons. Sunagel expressed his excitement about starting a new chapter at the University of Utah, where he plans to pursue both his education and his love for hockey. He is eagerly looking forward to forging new connections and immersing himself in the competitive environment at the university.
Outside of hockey, Sungel enjoys spending his free time in the great outdoors. Whether it’s skiing, mountain biking, engaging in water sports, hiking, or fishing, he find fulfillment in various outdoor activities and cherishes the beauty of nature.
“We are excited to welcome Tyler to the Utah Hockey Family. After last season it was clear we needed to find some additional playmakers who have high hockey IQ. Tyler fits this mold perfectly. He is a threat every time he steps on the ice with his strong passing and scoring abilities. I am excited to have him on our team next season,” said Men’s Division 1 Head Coach Morgan Feenie.
Sunagel plans to study Business at the U.
Utah Hockey would like to welcome Tyler and wish him the absolute best in the upcoming season!
