WOMEN’S DEFENSIVE COACH

Hannah Mathews was named Women’s Defensive Coach on June 30, 2023 and Women’s Assistant Coach on May 31, 2024.

Mathews originally hails from Michigan and grew up playing ice hockey throughout school. She helped her high school team win back-to-back state titles.

After high school, she played four years of ACHA Division 1 hockey at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan. At GVSU, she served as Alternate Captain and helped her team make a National Tournament appearance, advancing to the Semi-Finals in 2015.

Mathews graduated from GVSU with a double major in Finance and Marketing in 2015.

Since moving to Utah in 2021, Mathews has followed the women’s hockey program. She says she is “excited to be a part of the successful and growing women’s hockey community in Salt Lake City and at the University of Utah.”
