Training camp for the University of Utah Men’s Division 1 team (M1) is in the books for the 2025-26 season.
This year’s training camp occurred from August 12-15, 2025 in McCall, Idaho. The annual event is scheduled prior to the first day of Fall semester at the University of Utah, which began today.
The Skatin’ Utes will enter their ninth season at the ACHA M1 level. This will also be their fifth season as a member of the Western Collegiate Hockey League (WCHL). Utah is seeking it’s third consecutive appearance in the American Collegiate Hockey Association M1 National Tournament.
Utah M1 graduated four seniors last season including: Assistant Captain Landon Langenbrunner, Forward Ethan Light, Defenseman Cole Musick, and Captain Michael Urtis. These four combined for 111 points during the regular season and their absence will surely be missed.
Utah Head Coach Morgan Feenie recruited 12 new student athletes to team this season. After training camp he mentioned, “This was the most engaging and competitive training camp since I’ve arrived. Every recruit brings experience and leadership to our squad and they have certainly raised the bar for training camp.”
Last season Utah finished the season with a fantastic 21-7-1 record. Earning a team history highest rank 8th in the final ACHA M1 rankings.
Utah Defenseman Jake Laurilla shared the following thoughts, “You can tell the guys are super motivated this season based on how camp went. It was fast, physical, and really skilled hockey that was shown on the ice. The standard this year is to win nationals and you can tell that both the veterans and rookies are committed to the goal.”

“It’s always a lot of fun coming to McCall for training camp. The pace and compete level has really impressed me this year. You can tell everyone is hungry and excited for the season to get underway. It’s not hard to see us making a deep run at nationals with this group, mentioned Sophomore Brady Schwab.
