Salt Lake City, Utah

The University of Utah Men’s Division 1 (M1) hockey program has announced their schedule for 2026-2027 regular season.

The Skatin’ Utes will enter their tenth season at the ACHA M1 level. This will also be their sixth season as a member of the Western Collegiate Hockey League (WCHL).

Utah is seeking its fourth consecutive appearance in the American Collegiate Hockey Association M1 National Tournament.

Last season Utah finished the season with a fantastic 16-10-1 record. Earning an exceptional ranking of #13 in the final ACHA M1 National rankings.

Head Coach Morgan Feenie commented on the 2026 schedule, “We’re extremely excited about the schedule we’ve put together this season. To have the opportunity to open our year in Lake Placid and play our first game on the legendary Herb Brooks Arena is something our players and staff will remember for a long time. From there, we’ll jump right into a very competitive WCHL schedule against some of the best programs in the country, while also continuing with the Chicago Showcase, where we’ll face three nationally ranked top-15 opponents. We want to challenge ourselves throughout the season, and this schedule gives us that opportunity. Our goal is to compete against the best, continue to grow as a team, and make sure we’re prepared for the type of hockey we expect to see at the end of the year.

Coach Feenie’s recruited 5 new student athletes, whom will wear the coveted red helmet this season.

Utah will kick of the season at the ACHA Lake Placid Invitational with North Carolina State University, Lehigh University, and WCHL rival Missouri State University, although the game will not count as a conference game. The games against North Carolina State and Lehigh will be the first time these teams have met on the ice.

After their return from Lake Placid, Utah M1 will prepare for their home opener against University of Oklahoma which will also double for the start of the WCHL run for the Utes on October 2nd and 3rd, 2026.

Utah M1 will be home for one more series against University of Arizona on October 16th and 17th, before embarking on four subsequent road trips throughout the Fall.

First trip will be to the perennial powerhouse, University of Nevada Las Vegas. These two teams have been battling for conference supremacy for years with both games are at City National Arena on October 29th and 30th.

The following weekend, Utah will travel to the desert and play the University of Arizona at the Tucson Event Center. This rivalry is alive and well with games scheduled on November 5th and 6th.

Utah’s month of travel will continue in Phoenix on November 13th and 14th against Arizona State University at the fabled Mullet Arena.

Utah M1 will again travel to the ACHA Men’s Division 1 Chicago Showcase from November 19-21, 2026. This event is a major ACHA event with 18 Men’s Division 1 teams traveling to the Windy City. Utah will play the Hope University, University of Jamestown, and University of Mary.

After 15 games and traveling to three United States time zones, Utah M1 will get a much-needed time off for the Thanksgiving Holiday.

For the final two games of the semester, Utah will host Grand Canyon University at the Salt Lake City Sports Complex on December 4th and 5th.

As with all member teams of the WCHL, the strongest M1 conference on average in the ACHA, the Lopes always come to play and this year should prove to be no different.

The new year will begin with a home stretch with four games at the Salt Lake City Sports Complex. The Utes kick off the semester with games against UNLV on January 22nd and 23rd, followed by two against Arizona State on January 29th and 30th.

All four games play a major role in the WCHL standings.

February for Utah M1 will begin in Phoenix against Grand Canyon University, with games occurring at their new Fire ‘n’ Ice Arena, opening in September 2026.

Utah will finish their regular season and WCHL season in Ft Collins, Colorado, against Colorado State University.

The final release of the ACHA M1 rankings will be on Sunday, February 22. These rankings will determine if Utah has qualified for the National Tournament in St. Louis. If the Utes earn their fourth trip to M1 Nationals, they will be in Missouri on Thursday, March 12, 2027.
