Salt Lake City, UT
The University of Utah Skatin’ Utes picked up their first two Division I wins last weekend in Buffalo and the wins were enough to keep the Utes in the top 25.
The Utes fell one spot in the ACHA Division I Rankings released on Wednesday, dropping from 23 to 24. The team flipped spots with Colorado State, who split last weekend with now #12 Colorado.
Utah’s only loss last week was to Syracuse, who jumped ahead of the Utes as well at number 22 after being unranked for the first time this season last week.
Ohio is the new number one team in the country, after Arizona State swept previous #1 Minot State at home last weekend. Thanks to those wins, Arizona State now sits at number two, with Minot State coming in at number three.
The Utes sit at 8-7 on the season and 2-7 in Division I play as all seven of their losses have come to teams ranked above them, six of which are in the top eight in the country.
The Utes will take a break from Division I play until January, where the team will head south to take on Arizona in Tucson. The Utes will be back at home this weekend, taking on Texas A&M on Saturday night at the Utah Ice Sheet.
