Salt Lake City, UT
Utah Hockey has received a commitment from forward Darren Banks for the upcoming 2017-2018 season.
Banks is from Athens, TX and graduated from Campbell High in Gillette, Wyoming. He most recently played for the University of Oklahoma’s ACHA Division I team last season. Banks is also a former teammate of current Utes Alex King, Tristen Leberknight, and Tyler Reble when the four played for the Gillette Wild in the NA3HL, where Banks tallied 67 points in 81 games with the Wild. Banks has also spent time during his junior career with the Minot Minotauros in the NAHL and also spent a season with Finlandia University at the NCAA Division III level.
“I am looking forward to the opportunity to play with some of my former Wild teammates and to be a Skatin’ Ute. The organization is first class with a winning tradition,” Banks said. He is majoring in Business Marketing at the University of Utah in addition to his time on the ice.
“Darren will be an impact player for the Utes. He will add size and physicality to the lineup along with considerable experience,” said Head Coach Huras.
Utah Hockey would like to welcome Darren to the team and wish him the best in the upcoming season.
