Utah M2 ready for three game weekend
November 4, 2021
Salt Lake City, Utah
The University of Utah Men’s Division 2 team will face three inter-Utah opponents, searching for their first win on the season. The competition includes Utah State University, Weber State, and the first of two recently added matchups against Utah Valley University. The M2 team will return home on November 10th for a second showing against Utah Valley, and again on November 12th and 13th against San Jose State.
Utah’s M2 team is still trying to find their groove, currently standing at 0-4-0 on the season, following their recent defeat against Utah State. The Skatin’ Utes fell behind early against the Aggies, and the deficit proved itself to be insurmountable, as the two squads concluded at an 11-4 final score. The Utah Division 2 team faced Weber State University in their home opener, and fell 12-3. The Skatin’ Utes will look to display a stronger showing against the Aggies and Wildcats, and claim a win against fresh competition versus Utah Valley. The match against UVU will be the first of two as Utah M2 will welcome the Wolverines into Salt Lake City on November 10th.
UVU’s season currently stands at 6-9-0 following a clean sweep in a two-game series against Western Colorado University. The upcoming match against the Skatin’ Utes will be the first time in the Wolverines’ history that they have faced the University of Utah. The Utah State Aggies are feeling hot following an impressive win against the talented Weber State Wildcat team, and are hoping to continue their winning ways and display dominance over Utah’s M2 squad as they once again welcome the Skatin’ Utes into Logan. The Weber State Wildcats maintain the best record of the bunch, currently holding steady at an impressive 10-1-2. The recent loss in Logan against the Aggies was a rare mishap in the Wildcats’ season, and their squad is feeling confident as they return to their home rink to face Utah M2.
The four inter-Utah programs have never been more focused, continually making adjustments as the season progresses, and practicing regularly ahead of the fierce competition. The three-game stretch for the Skatin’ Utes will all be on the road as they travel to Peaks Ice Arena in Provo to take on the Wolverines on Thursday, The Ice Sheet to face the Wildcats on Friday, and Eccles Ice Center to rematch the Aggies on Saturday. Puck drops at 7:00 p.m. for the Thursday and Saturday matchups and 7:15 p.m. MST for the Friday showing against Weber State.
