Salt Lake City, Utah
University of Utah Men’s Division 2 Hockey has received a commitment from Forward Reed Pittman for the upcoming 2022-23 season.
Reed’s road to the University of Utah started in Birmingham, Alabama, skating at the only one rink in Birmingham. He was 4 years old when he started skating and joined his first house hockey team only a year later. At 13 years old, Pittman started playing for the Huntsville Chargers AA hockey club in Huntsville, Alabama, about a two hour drive one way. Many long drives to practice and even longer drives to Atlanta, Nashville and other cities for travel league games.
After his sophomore year in high school, Pittman moved to Dallas, TX and began playing Varsity Hockey for his high school team, Southlake Carroll High School in the AT&T Metroplex League. Reed became the Assistant Captain and helped his team make City Championship and the State Championship tournaments.
Pittman found what he was looking for in a school at the U, “I wanted a well established and operated hockey program that is valued by the school, and to be near mountains to go snowboarding.”
“Reed’s size and skill will be an asset to us this season both in the defensive and offensive zones. We’re excited to have him on the squad,” Men’s Division 2 Head Coach Nick Fornelius said.
Pittman plans to study International Business at the U.
Utah Hockey would like to welcome Reed and wish him the absolute best in the upcoming season!
