Jon Bertagnolli Retires from Utah Hockey

April 21, 2015 Salt Lake City, UT The University of Utah Hockey team lost one if its all time great members of the program as Head Coach Jon Bertagnolli has retired from the club after manning the helm for the last six seasons. Bertagnolli took over the team for the 2009-2010 season after the club went 2-26 the previous year. In his first season, the Utes won a then club-record 16 games for a 16-16 record, which was the club’s first winning season since reforming back in 2006. He didn’t stop there as Bertagnolli tallied 15, 30, 29, 30, and 29 win seasons in his next five years, amassing a total of 151 wins as head coach of the Skatin’ Utes. His final record with the program is 151-69-5 in 225 games with a winning percentage of 67 percent. In addition to his stellar record, Bertagnolli earned a lot of hardware as well. In his career at Utah, Bertagnolli has 2 PAC-8 Championship titles, 2 PAC-8 runner up titles, a Wasatch Cup title, and two PAC-8 Coach of the Year awards. He has also appeared in three West Regional Finals and one National tournament where the Utes finished 6th in the nation. The team has set numerous club records throughout his tenure at Utah as the program has now become one of the elite in the West Division, thanks to his leadership.
