Utah W1 hosts #5 Midland for three game home stand

Stevie Shaughnessey November 21, 2024
November 21, 2024 Salt Lake City, Utah This weekend, Utah Women’s Hockey welcomes the Midland University Warriors to Salt Lake City to compete in a three-day meeting. This matchup comes after two consecutive losses for the Skatin’ Utes to University of Colorado, with the Buffaloes defeating the Utes 1-0 and 2-1. While the Utes are coming off a pair of losses, the Midland Warriors are on a high with a three-game winning streak. In their most recent matches against Minnesota, the Warriors scored a total of 12 goals, allowing only one through during the weekend. The Skatin’ Utes are currently tied for second in the Western Women’s Collegiate League, with the Midland Warriors matching that ranking in their conference, Women’s Midwest College Hockey. Both teams are tied up at 4 losses a piece, and the games this weekend will provide a tiebreaker for the evenly matched teams. Despite a tied ranking and record for the season so far, Utah leads with top point-scoring players. Morgan Lavalley, a freshman defenseman for the Skatin’ Utes, leads the team with 22 points scored for the season. On the Warriors, Callie Maguire leads with 15. The Utes will be on the rink for their first game against the Midland Warriors on Thursday, Nov. 21 at 7pm. MDT on the home turf for the Utes at the Salt Lake County Sports Complex. The Skatin’ Utes will be playing on sheet two, with Utah’s Men’s Division 2 team playing on sheet one. The second game on Friday, Nov. 22 will again be at the Sports Complex, but with puck drop starting at 4:30pm. MDT. For both home broadcasts, you can tune into the Utah Hockey Youtube channel, where the games will be streamed live. The third faceoff between the Warriors and the Utes will be away for both teams, with the matchup commencing at the Park City Ice Arena on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 4:15pm. MDT. No broadcast will be available, but you can stay updated on the score by tuning in on all the Utah Women’s Hockey social media channels, which will be updated with scores throughout the game. Tickets for all games can be found here.
