Salt Lake City, Utah
University of Utah Hockey has received a commitment from Defenseman Zach Monaco for the upcoming 2020-21 season.
“I’m excited and extremely grateful to be moving to Salt Lake City and be part of Utah Hockey. Really excited to begin my college hockey career,” Monaco said.
Zach was born in Fairfield, California, and grew up in Palmer, Alaska, where nearly his entire youth hockey career was played.
During his Senior year, Monaco played for the Wenatchee Wild AAA 18U of the North American Prospects Hockey League, and the Colony Knights High School team and graduated in 2019.
Last season Monaco played for the Bozeman Ice Dogs in the North American 3 Hockey League, producing 33 points in 44 games.
“Monaco is a big defenseman who creates a lot of offensive opportunities from the blue line. We are very excited to see him bring the same creativity to the team,” said Utah GM AJ Boldan.
Zach plans to study Kinesiology at the U.
Utah Hockey would like to welcome Zach and wish him the absolute best in the upcoming season!
