10th Annual Utah Hockey Fearless in the Fight Fundraiser
February 1, 2024
Salt Lake City, Utah
As a proud supporter of Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI) at the University of Utah, the Utah Hockey Women’s Division 1 team will play their Annual Breast Cancer Awareness game on Friday, February 2nd at 4:30 pm.
As the designated National Cancer Institute Comprehensive Cancer Center for the Mountain West states, most patients travel from Utah, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, and Wyoming to seek treatment. Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in the United States, second to skin cancer. It accounts for about 30% or 1 in 3 of all new female cancers each year (American Cancer Society). It’s estimated that over 300,000 new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed in women and about 3,000 in men.
Even though breast cancer rates have been steadily decreasing, it is still the second leading cause of cancer death in women. Because of early detection and increased awareness, as well as better treatments, there are more than 4 million breast cancer survivors in the United States, which includes those still being treated and those who have completed treatment.
To continue bringing awareness of a disease that impacts 1 in 8 women and 1 in 833 men, the Women’s team will be wearing specialty jerseys that will be auctioned off. The money from the jerseys and donations collected during the game will be given to Huntsman Cancer Institute to help continue the fight against cancer.
Tickets are still available online and at the door.
A buy it now link for jerseys will be post tomorrow morning!
