December 12, 2014
Salt Lake City, UT
The Holiday break is almost here which signifies the end of the first semester of the school year and the end of the first half of the ACHA season.
Before the Utah Skatin’ Utes head into the three-week break, the team will play one more game at home this Saturday against their rivals in the BYU Cougars.
This marks meeting number three between these two teams, with Utah winning the previous two games by scores of 6-1 and 10-0. The Utes have also won 19 straight games against the Cougars.
The Cougars are still searching for their first win of the season, as they currently have a 0-14 record. Axel Boyer is still the team leader in points for BYU with 24 and Scott Mehr is in net with a 6.52 GAA and .843 save percentage.
The third-ranked Utes are coming off a pair of wins over PAC 8 member Washington in Seattle last weekend and will look to finish the semester on a high note before the stretch run to Nationals begins next month.
Josh Dangel continues to lead the team in points with 38 this season, followed closely by Chase McDonald who has 32 points. In net, Chris Komma is 13-5-1 and Devan Betts is 4-2 this season.
Saturday night’s game is also Utah’s 2nd Annual Teddy Bear Toss, where fans are asked to bring a stuffed animal to the game and throw it on the ice when Utah scores its first goal of the game. Game starts at 8:30pm at the Utah Ice Sheet.
