Welcome to the University of Utah! There’s too much to see and do here in one day, but we hope this tour will give you a taste of life on the U of U campus. Please download the self guided campus tour map here.
- University Welcome Center: located within the Gardner Commons Building (GC) GC is home to the Hinckley Institute of Politics and the College of Social and Behavioral Science, as well as many intro-level courses. Gardner Commons also boasts unique dining options like a rotation of favorite SLC restaurants, and a completely plant based food station (Rooted).
- J. Willard Marriott Library: You have just walked through Library Plaza, which is home to many social events and tasty food trucks. Now, you are on the 3rd floor of our library. The third floor includes: a group study area, a silent study area, and the Reserve Desk. At the Reserve Desk you can check out many textbooks and even skeletons to help you study! Now walk down to the second floor. Here we have a computer lab, 3-D printing lab, study rooms, and Knowledge Commons. Knowledge Commons allows students to check-out various electronics and offers tech help.
- Marriott Center for Dance (MCD), Henry Eyring Chemistry Building (HEB), Biology Buildings (BIO): The MCD is home to our nationally ranked Ballet and Modern Dance Programs. The HEB is home to our Chemistry classrooms and labs. Many students have general education classes here! The Biology buildings are connected by the Bio bridge, which has plant cells painted on the windows.
- John R. Park Building: The Park Building is home to many of the administrative offices on campus, including the President of the University, Dr. Ruth Watkins. Her main goal as president is to “build on the legacy of innovation, discovery and deliver outstanding value in higher education and health care.”
- Optional: Crocker Science Center (highlighted in orange on your map)The Crocker Science Building is our brand-new science hub on campus! It has classrooms, teaching labs, and even a coffee shop for a drink or bite to eat between classes.
- Student Services Building: Throughout your college experience, the services located here–where you can pay tuition, meet with an academic advisor or career coach, or talk with the registrar–will help you find success at every turn.
- A. Ray Olpin Student Union: The Union is central on campus and the main student “hangout”. You can meet up with friends for some Jamba Juice or Hive Pizza, score some discount movie or ski/snowboard tickets, or dance the night away at the Union Programming Council’s Crimson Nights Events! - Lassonde Studios: Lassonde Studios is one of our lower-campus housing options for students. Not only does it house students, but it also serves as our entrepreneurial hub on campus. Students can build porotypes in the workshop and have access to seminars and “pitch days” focused on helping students grow their start-up companies
- George S. Eccles Student Life Center: Welcome to our gym! Here we have basketball courts, volleyball courts, an indoor soccer arena, climbing wall, Olympic-sized lap-pool, hot tub, leisure pool, outdoor pool, lifting floor, and an indoor track. This building also houses our Outdoor Recreation program and Gear Rental Shop, where you can find all the gear for your next adventure (at student friendly prices)!
- Dumke Gymnastics Center and the HPER Complex: As you walk, you will pass the Dumke, where our Women’s Gymnastics team practices. Fun fact: Our Gymnastics team is the highest attended women’s collegiate sport in the nation! Further down the path is the HPER complex. Here you will find our College of Health and our athletic swimming and diving facilities. Another fun fact – HPER buildings are all connected via underground tunnels so you have somewhere to hide when it’s snowing outside!
- Sorenson Arts and Education Complex: Next you will pass our main arts and education building. This building serves as the premier hub of evidence-based K-12 arts integration research as well as the training grounds for future teachers.
- Spencer Fox Eccles Business Building: Here you will find our Business School. There are always opportunities here to better your business skills, including mock interviews or investing real funds on the trading floor!
