Salt Lake City, Utah
The University of Utah Hockey has received a commitment from Forward André Lacroix for the upcoming 2023-24 season.
André was born and raised in the eastern suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio. He played in the youth hockey program up through the 14U level for his hometown Gilmour Gladiators. Growing up, he was coached by both his father, André Lacroix & his grandfather, André Lacroix Sr, who is a 14-year veteran of the NHL and WHA. At the 14U level, Lacroix transitioned to defense, where he helped his team maintain their 1st place wire-to-wire ranking and completed the historic run by winning the Cleveland Suburban Hockey League (CSHL) Championship.
Lacroix graduated from Gilmour Academy where he earned a Varsity letter all 4 years of his high school career. He received the Zeal Team 6 award his junior year for his commitment to being in the gym both in season and out of season. As a senior, Lacroix won the Brother Robert Sportsmanship Award. A career highlight for him was winning the Ohio High School Hockey State Championship during his junior year. Lacroix says he’s most proud of the feedback from his grandfather, who’s said, “André plays defense the way the defense is supposed to be played.”
“I’m excited to meet my teammates and play hockey at the next level,” said Lacroix.
In his free time, Lacroix likes to ski, surf, work out, and ‘just be active’.
“We’re looking forward to having André join our defensive ranks for this upcoming season. His hockey IQ and ability to battle in front of our own net will be a big help in keeping pucks out of our net this season,” said Men’s Division 2 Head Coach Nick Fornelius.
Lacroix plans to study Computer Science at the U.
Utah Hockey would like to welcome André and wish him the absolute best in the upcoming season!
