Espen Nelson (F) commits to Utah

University of Utah Hockey has received a commitment from Forward Espen Nelson for the upcoming 2020-21 season.
“I am excited to start my next chapter and develop as a hockey player at the University of Utah. I am hopeful for a successful and great season,” said Nelson.
Espen was born and raised in Boise, Idaho. He has been skating and playing hockey since he was 5 years old. He played for his hometown team, the Jr. Steelheads AA & AAA programs. He also played all four years on his high school hockey team, winning the state championship his senior year. He graduated from Boise High School a year early to pursue hockey overseas. After graduating in Spring 2019, he moved to Oslo, Norway where he played for Manglerud Star in the Norwegian U18 and U21 Elite league.
“We are very exited to have Espen on the team. His experience and skills development overseas will be a fantastic addition to the University and Utah Hockey, ” said Utah GM AJ Boldan.
Espen will be studying Physics and Astronomy at the U.
