Salt Lake City, Utah
The University of Utah Hockey has received a commitment from Forward Hailey Merryweather for the upcoming 2023-24 season.
Hailey was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. She has been playing multiple sports her entire life but hockey has always been her favorite. Merryweather started hockey at the age of five after trying it out with her friend and has been playing it ever since.
She played boy’s hockey for the majority of her life with the Sno-King Hockey Association. It wasn’t until her senior year of high school that she switched to girl’s hockey. She joined the Lady Admirals travel hockey team which is a part of the Seattle Jr Hockey Association.
“I am so excited to be a part of this team and continue my education in Utah!” said Merryweather.
“Hailey has a hockey IQ that we are very impressed with. She has the ability to create plays out of the toughest situations. We are excited to see what she can do in a Utah jersey this season,” said Women’s Division 1 Head Coach Rodney Stedt.
Merryweather plans to study Psychology at the U.
Utah Hockey would like to welcome Hailey and wish her the absolute best in the upcoming season!
