University of Utah Hockey is absolutely thrilled to announce Women’s Division 1 Captain Halle Hanson has recently been named to the 2025 United States Women’s National University team. The team will take their skates and hockey talents international, traveling to Torino, Italy from Jan. 13-23 to compete in the 2025 Winter World Games.
Hansen was named to the team along with 22 other women from a variety of universities across the country, including Minot State University, Arizona State University, University of Michigan, and more. Of the 23 players on the team, Hansen is one of 13 forwards that will be competing for the United States in the Games, and was the only University of Utah women’s hockey player selected.
Hansen, who is in her fourth season on the team, will join 11 other seniors and one graduate student to lead the team. In an interview with Hansen, she spoke of how excited she is for this opportunity and the support her team has provided to help her achieve this accomplishment. Rodney Stedt, coach of the Women’s Division 1 team, also spoke of this opportunity for Hansen, highlighting the hard work she has done as a player and a captain to reach this point in her career.
Don’t worry, Hansen won’t be missing any games for the Utah Hockey W1 team as of now. The international competition takes place during a month long bye for the team; once Hansen returns from Italy, the Skatin’ Utes travel to Colorado to take on Denver University for the first time this season.
