Salt Lake City, Utah
The University of Utah Men’s Division 2 Hockey has received a commitment from Forward Hank Levy for the upcoming 2024-25 season.
Levy’s love for the game started at a young age while watching his dad’s last couple of years playing pro hockey. He grew up in Salt Lake City playing for the Salt Lake Lighting, Utah Regulators, and Utah Jr. Grizzlies organizations before moving out of state.
When he was twelve years old, he began playing for the Colorado Thunderbirds, where he would play for five seasons. Levy went on to play two years of Junior Hockey, one for the Minnesota Magicians of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) and one for the Penticton Vees of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL). While with Penticton, he helped win the Fred Page Cup (BCHL Champions), and to this day is his favorite hockey memory.
After playing Junior Hockey, Levy earned an NCAA Division 1 commitment to play for the Arizona State Sun Devils for the 2023-24 season. While at ASU, he decided to transfer to the University of Utah this coming fall to play hockey as a forward, leaving his goaltending career behind. Playing hockey as a forward is something he’s always loved and wanted to do competitively.
“It’s a cherry on top that I get to come back to play in my hometown where it all started for me,” said Levy.
“We’re excited to add Hank to our forward group this year. His excellent vision and playmaking ability combined with his exceptional shot will be a big lift for our team. He brings great experience to our squad from playing at a high level of hockey throughout his career,” said Men’s Division 2 Head Coach Nick Fornelius.
Levy plans to study Kinesiology at the U.
Utah Hockey would like to welcome Hank and wish him the absolute best in the upcoming season!
