Salt Lake City, Utah
For their final two games of 2024, Utah Hockey’s Men Division 1 team will travel to San Diego State University, battling for their 10th and 11th wins of the season. The Skatin’ Utes currently hold a record of 9-3-1, sitting at a comfortable first place ranking in the Western Collegiate Hockey League and 10th in the ACHA for Men’s Division 1 teams.
The San Diego State Aztecs are currently on a seven-game losing streak, dropping their most recent two-game matchup to Grand Canyon University. In comparison, Utah is coming off a loss after failing to win their two most recent games against University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
It’s been over a month since Utah has last seen their home turf, with their last game in Utah taking place on Nov. 1-2 versus the Arizona State Sun Devils where they claimed a double-header win . The Utes will continue to play on the road for most of January, facing off against University of Alabama, University of Maryville and Illinois State University for tournament play in Chesterfield Montana Jan. 17-19.
The Utes also play away against the University of Arizona Jan. 24-25, but will return home after more than two months of travel for a double-header against University of Nevada, Las Vegas on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1. The Utes are currently on a five-game win streak at home, and will continue to fight for wins away this weekend.
The Aztecs are a familiar face for the Utes, with the most recent matchup taking place only two months ago in early October. The Utes hosted San Diego State for two home games at the Salt Lake County Sports Complex, where they claimed two shutout wins against their opponent. During this head-to-head, the Utes secured a whopping 19 goals against the Aztecs, with the final score of game one concluding at 15-0.
The first game of the Skatin’ Utes two-game spell begins on Dec. 6 at 8:30PM. MDT, with the second matchup between the teams in conference play taking place on Dec. 7 at 9:30PM. MDT.
