Salt Lake City, Utah
The University of Utah Women’s Division 1 Hockey has received a commitment from Defense Madison Brent for the upcoming 2024-25 season.
Brent’s passion for hockey ignited when her father joined an adult league after her family relocated to Utah, prompting her brother to enroll in learn-to-skate sessions, with her quickly following.
At the age of 8, she officially embarked on her hockey journey, initially joining the Park City Ice Miners boys’ team and progressing through the ranks until the midget level. Transitioning to girls’ hockey at 12u, Brent joined the Lady Lightning, followed by a stint with Colorado Select Tier II in 8th grade.
During her freshman year, she contributed to the Utah Lady Grizzlies U19 team, clinching 3rd place at US Nationals. During her sophomore year, Brent proudly wore the jersey of the St. Louis Lady Blues. Seeking new academic challenges, she transferred to The Hill School in Pennsylvania for her junior year and donned a varsity hockey uniform for the Rams. Returning home for her senior year, she resumed playing for the Lady Blues while representing Park City High School.
Among Brent’s achievements are four consecutive selections to the Rocky Mountain District Hockey team and participation in the national development camp in 2022.
“Madi is a player who doesn’t know when to quit. She’s a battler to her core and never stops moving. She can make the smart play and create offense,” said Women’s Division 1 Head Coach Rodney Stedt.
Brent plans to study Biology at the U.
Utah Hockey would like to welcome Madison and wish her the absolute best in the upcoming season!
