Salt Lake City, Utah
The University of Utah Hockey has received a commitment from Forward Nathan MacDonald for the upcoming 2023-24 season.
Nathan was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He played minor hockey in the city from age 8 and made the move to AAA when he was 15 playing for the Calgary Northstars U16AAA Canucks.
The following 2 seasons, MacDonald attended the National Sports School and played in the CSSHL for the International Hockey Academy on the U17 and U18 prep teams where he lead the league in goals in his first season with IHA. Moving to Vancouver Island, he joined the Port Alberni Bombers of the VIJHL where he led his team in goals and was also a finalist for rookie of the year in the league.
MacDonald’s 2022-2023 season took him to Ontario where he played in the NOJHL for the Powassan Voodoos and then the Cochrane Crunch where he led the team in goals. “I look forward to being a Skatin’ Ute where I hope to be a big contributor to the team’s success,” said MacDonald.
During the off-season, MacDonald enjoys golfing and wake surfing.
“Nathan is a natural goal scorer. After watching many of his games last year, it was evident that if given the opportunity, Nathan was putting the puck in the net. Coming off last season, we needed to add another goal scorer and I see Nathan fitting that role. I am looking forward to him joining the Utah Hockey Family,” said Men’s Division 1 Head Coach Morgan Feenie.
MacDonald plans to study Business at the U.
Utah Hockey would like to welcome Nathan and wish him the absolute best in the upcoming season!
