Salt Lake City, Utah
The University of Utah Hockey has received a commitment from Forward Nikolas Schwab for the upcoming 2023-24 season.
Nikolas was born in Lake Villa, Illinois. He grew up playing youth hockey with a lot of local teams including, Highland Park Falcons, Team Illinois, and Chicago Young Americans. Schwab had a lot of success including a couple of state championships and league championships with these different organizations.
In 2020, the Utah Outliers recruited Schwab and he moved out west to Salt Lake City, Utah. After being the last seed team for playoffs his first year in Juniors, they ended up making a fight at it and winning the organization’s first US Premier League (USPHL) Mountain Division Title. Coming back the next two years, they were the best team in the Division and Top 5 in the league both seasons. Schwab ended up helping the Outliers succeed again by winning 2 more Mountain Division titles in his second and third years. During his final season, he lead the team on and off the ice, tallying 17 goals with 33 assists for 50 points in 49 games. He really enjoyed his time with the Outliers and now he is “very excited to get the chance to stay in Utah, play at the collegiate level and be a Ute!”
“Adding Niko will be huge for our team next year. He will be the Swiss army knife of our team and can do it all. I had the pleasure of watching him play multiple games last year and he was a dominant force regardless of where he was on the ice. He is a natural goal-scorer and a very tough player to play against. I am looking forward to having Niko join the Utah Hockey Family,” said Men’s Division 1 Head Coach Morgan Feenie.
Schwab plans to study Computer Science at the U.
Utah Hockey would like to welcome Nikolas and wish him the absolute best in the upcoming season!
