The University of Utah Skatin’ Utes look to get back to their winning ways as they play a pair of games against in-state rivals this weekend. The Utes will take on Weber State for the second time this season on Friday at home at the Utah Ice Sheet. On Saturday the team will head up north to Logan for their second matchup with Utah State.
ABOUT THE SERIES:
The Utes have won six straight games against Weber State, and are 12-3 in their last 15 games against the Wildcats. The Utes have also won six straight over Utah State and are 9-1-1 in their last ten meetings with the Aggies.
ABOUT WEBER STATE:
The Wildcats 3-6 on the season and are coming off a 1-2 performance at a showcase in Boise last weekend. The Wildcats were able to beat Boise State 4-3 in overtime before falling to Northern Colorado and Denver. William Fobair leads the team in points with 14 through eight games. Todd Lemon and Logan Alam have split time in net for Weber State, with Lemon going 0-4 with a 4.25 GAA and .867 save percentage. Alam is 3-1 with a 3.50 GAA and .865 save percentage.
ABOUT UTAH STATE:
The Aggies are 6-3 on the season and are also coming off last weekend’s showcase in Boise, where the Aggies went 3-0 against Denver, Montana Tech, and Northern Colorado. The Aggies will take on Colorado at home on Friday night before they welcome the Utes on Saturday. Chris Cutshall leads the team in points with 22 in just nine games so far. Austin Willenborg, Christian Vivian, and Colter Pritchard have all split time in net so far for Utah State. Pritchard has the best stats so far, posting two shutouts in two games for the Aggies.
ABOUT UTAH:
The Utes currently sit at 2-4 on the season and are coming off back to back road trips the last two weekends against Jamestown and now #19 Arizona State. While the Utes didn’t pick up a win over the last two weekends, the Utes showed they belong at the D1 level, taking three of the four losses all the way to the final seconds. Alex King, Josh Dangel, and Nick Fornelius are all tied for the team lead in points with four each. Chris Komma has played all six games in net for Utah, and is 2-4 with a 2.19 GAA and a .934 save percentage. Komma’s save percentage is ranked second in the country right now among regular starters.
Friday night’s game against Weber State is at the Utah Ice Sheet at 8pm MT. Saturday’s contest in Logan against Utah State is at 7pm MT.
