October 18, 2013
Seattle, WA
After picking up a pair of wins against last year’s PAC-8 runner up Oregon Wednesday and Thursday night, the Utah Skatin’ Utes now take their undefeated record to Seattle to take on the Washington Huskies.
It’s the first meeting between these two North Division rivals this year and marks the first time Utah has played in Seattle since the Utes lost 2-0 to the Huskies in the 2012 PAC-8 Championship.
The Utes lead the all-time series over the Huskies 5-3, but this series has interesting twist to it. In all eight contests between these two teams, the home team has won every game.
The Huskies will look to hand Utah its first loss of the season after picking up a 4-1 win over Cal State Northridge Thursday night in Washington. The Huskies are 3-2 on the year, beating Idaho twice and losing to Boise State twice.
UW is led on the forward lines by junior Ryan Minkoff, who finished second in the nation in scoring last year with 86 points. As for this year, Minkoff has continued his scoring by putting up 15 points in just four games with the Huskies. Senior forward Corey James is back as well, scoring 10 points so far this year after scoring 52 points last year.
Sophomore Jacob Gilmore is back between the pipes for UW this year, posting a 1.33 GAA and .941 save percentage in three games. Last year, Gilmore had a 4.37 GAA and .886 save percentage in 25 appearances.
As for the Utes, the perfect records still intact hallway through the road trip beating Oregon 4-1 and 6-2.
