Salt Lake City, Utah
The University of Utah Hockey has received a commitment from Forward Skye Herman for the upcoming 2023-24 season.
Skye started on the ice at the age of 3 as a figure skater and continued skating for 9 years. She never really liked it and always wanted to be a hockey player like her brother, Reed. So, in 8th grade, she was allowed to try hockey for our girl’s high school team in Devils Lake, North Dakota. She continued to play for the Firebirds until she graduated in 2020.
From high school, she signed to play ACHA D2 hockey for the Dakota College at Bottineau. Herman was a part of the LadyJack’s inaugural year in 2020-2021. In the second season with Bottineau, they made it to Nationals and placed 2nd overall. During the 2022-2023, they made it to the semi-final round.
“Skye is transferring to us from a W2 program that has made multiple runs at a national championship. She knows what it takes to get there. Her gameplay is very fast and will fit in with our forwards very well. We look forward to the experience she will bring to our team,” said Women’s Division 1 Head Coach Rodney Stedt.
Herman plans to study Nursing at the U after transferring from Bottineau with an Associate of Science degree.
Utah Hockey would like to welcome Skye and wish her the absolute best in the upcoming season!
