Salt Lake City, UT
University of Utah Hockey has received a commitment from Forward Tanner Ensign for the upcoming 2019-20 season.
Ensign is from Orange County, California and started playing roller hockey when he was three and switched to ice hockey at age seven. He skated with LA Jr Kings program for several seasons and then played for Anaheim Jr. Ducks till he was recruited by the Holderness School in Plymouth, New Hampshire to play for the 2015-2016 season.
Tanner played Varsity all four years for the Holderness Bulls and graduated in the Spring of 2019. As a senior he was assistant captain and the team placed second in the 2019 NEPSAC Hockey Tournament.
“Tanner has great wheels and uses his speed to create separation and generate offense. On the defensive side Ensign plays with some tenacity and he’s very good at digging up pucks along the wall to gain puck-possession for his team. He has some great tools that will translate quickly to ACHA hockey, and he has an overall great attitude I know will be a positive impact on the team, said Head Coach Huras.
Ensign plans to study Computer Science at the University of Utah.
Utah Hockey would like to welcome Tanner and wish him the absolute best in the upcoming season!
