Thanks to recent successes in the ACHA, the Utah Skatin’ Utes have played host to the 2013 ACHA West Regionals and will host the 2014 PAC-8 Championships. Now the Utes are set to host the league’s premiere event in 2015.
University of Utah Hockey has been selected by the ACHA to host the 2015 ACHA National Tournament, which will run March 20-24th in 2015. Not only will this be the first time the Utes will host Nationals, but Utah also receives an automatic berth to the tournament for hosting as well.
All games will be played at the Utes’ home rink at the Salt Lake City Sports Complex in Salt Lake City. Both rinks at the complex will be used all five days for pool play as well as the national championship game. The complex has recently played host to the 2013 ACHA West Regionals last year and the 2012 USA Hockey High School National Championships, as well as being an official training venue for the 2002 Olympic Winter Games.
The top 16 teams in the country will battle for the national title as four teams from each of the four ACHA divsions will be split into four pools of four. As host, Utah will hold one of those spots when the 2014-2015 season begins.
Stay tuned for more updates as the tournament gets closer.
