Utah Hockey teams up with Huntsman Cancer for Breast Cancer Game
October 29, 2024
Salt Lake City, Utah
Utah Hockey has officially teamed up with Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI) at the University of Utah, as the Utah Hockey Women’s Division 1 team will play their Annual Breast Cancer Awareness game on Saturday, November 2nd at 1:30 pm.
Breast Cancer accounts for about 30% or 1 in 3 of all new female cancers each year (American Cancer Society). It’s estimated that over 300,000 new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed in women and about 3,000 in men.
Even though breast cancer rates have been steadily decreasing, it is still the second leading cause of cancer death in women. Because of early detection and increased awareness, as well as better treatments, there are more than 4 million breast cancer survivors in the United States, which includes those still being treated and those who have completed treatment.
To continue bringing awareness of a disease that impacts 1 in 8 women and 1 in 833 men, the Women’s team will be wearing specialty jerseys that will be auctioned off. The money from the jerseys and donations collected during the game will be given to Huntsman Cancer Institute to help continue the fight against cancer.
The custom-made jerseys will be available for pregame sales in the near future.
The 2024 Breast Cancer Pucks and other Utah Hockey items are available for purchase immediately.
Tickets for this game are available online and at the door.
Donations can be made online here.
All proceeds go the Huntsman Cancer Institute and will be earmarked for Breast Cancer research.
