Utah M1 returns home to face CU Buffs
January 28, 2022
Salt Lake City, Utah
The holiday intermission has finally come to an end, and the University of Utah M1 team will continue their season at home against a familiar foe, the Colorado Buffs. The Skatin’ Utes, though consistently training, haven’t hit the ice for competition since December 3rd and 4th, when they successfully swept the Oregon Ducks in a two-game series. The Utes are eager to hit the ground running for this final part of the season ahead of the ACHA Nationals with six straight home games over the next three weekends.
As previously mentioned, Utah most recently swept the University of Oregon, branding them winners in 3 of their last 4 games. The last time Utah and CU Boulder met, back in October, the series concluded in a split fashion at a game a piece. Since then, the Skatin’ Utes are confident they have improved and developed further chemistry, and they are hopeful their improvements will provide them with the skills and efficiency to get the best of the Buffs. Utah M1’s season currently stands at 8-7-3, and down the stretch the Utes are motivated to climb well above .500 in the win category.
The University of Colorado is looking to get back on track following losses in 3 of their last 4. The Buffs suffered defeat in a split series against Missouri State, and again, most recently, after being swept in a two-game series against The University of Central Oklahoma. CU Boulder’s record took a hit as a result, and the Buffs now stand at 8-11-2. With only six regular season games left on the Colorado’s schedule, they know how important it is to head into every game determined to win. Traveling to Salt Lake City, the Buffs will look to steal the series.
The University of Colorado has been back on the ice in competition since January 14th and hope that proves to be an advantage against the now returning Skatin’ Utes. Both organizations have been training and preparing for this re-meeting, and are hopeful their game plans prove effective. The series will take place on Friday and Saturday at the Salt Lake City Sports Complex located at 645 S, Guardsman Way, Salt Lake City, UT 84108. The puck will drop at 7:30 p.m. MST on Friday and 4:30 p.m. MST on Saturday.
