Utah M2 head north to Logan
October 30, 2021
Logan, Utah
The University of Utah Men’s Division 2 will return to the ice this weekend against the Utah State Aggies. The M2 team hasn’t competed since October 2nd, a game that resulted in a loss to the Aggies. This rematch will serve as the first in a string of four inter-Utah road games for the Skatin’ Utes. The M2 squad will return home on November 10th for a game against Utah Valley University.
The newly founded Skatin’ Utes’ M2 team has gotten off to a slow 0-3-0 start. Despite this, the season is still young with months to go. The Utah program will be looking to get on track for their first season back at Division 2. The extended practice time resulting from the cancellation of the last two games has provided the Skatin’ Utes with the opportunity to sharpen their play and prepare in every aspect for their upcoming away games. Utah will aim to put their talented squad on display to steal a win on the road.
The Utah State Aggies record currently stands at 11-7-1, having competed far more than the Skatin’ Utes team this season. USU has previously claimed victories over Utah, Loyola, Utah Valley, Western Washington, Boise, and most recently, BYU. Since the showdown with the Skatin’ Utes takes place on October 30th, the day before Halloween, Utah State has encouraged all attendants to wear their Halloween costumes to the game.
Both organizations have practiced regularly, with Utah M2 experiencing a lengthy extension to their preparation and both organizations believe they have mentally locked in for what should be an exciting rematch. The matchup will take place on Friday at the Eccles Ice Center, located at 2825 N 200 E, North Logan, UT 84341. Puck drops at 7:00 p.m. MST.
