Salt Lake City, UT
For the third straight week, the University of Utah Skatin’ Utes are ranked in the top 25 of the ACHA Division I Rankings as they came in at number 25 this week.
The Utes fell one spot from 24 to 25 in the rankings that were released on Wednesday, keeping their dreams alive of playing in this year’s National Championship tournament in Columbus later this season. The Utes are just five spots out of clinching a berth, given to the top 20 teams in the country by season’s end.
The Utes didn’t get any help in their strength of schedule as Minot State swept Jamestown to move back into the top spot in this week’s poll, and Arizona State fell to Colorado and struggled with Colorado State to move them down to fourth. Jamestown fell one spot to ninth, and Syracuse moved up two spots to number 20.
Ohio, Adrian, Arizona State, and Central Oklahoma round out the top five in this week’s poll. Arizona jumped ahead of Utah at the bottom of the rankings, using a win over now-#19 Colorado State to move back into the top 25 at number 24. Arizona is Utah’s next Division I opponent, when they’ll take on the Wildcats on January 20th and 21st.
The Utes sit at 9-7 on the season, with a 2-7 record against D1 teams and a 7-0 record against D2 teams. The team is off for the next two weeks for Thanksgiving and will be back in action on December 2nd and 3rd when they’ll take on BYU and Utah State at home.
