The second ACHA rankings are out and the Utes have fallen one spot to number four in the West Divison.
The second of five rankings for the season was released last Monday and the Utes received 35 points which is good enough for the fourth spot in the poll that will ultimately decide who will advance to the playoffs at season’s end.
Arizona State Elite is still the unanimous number one in the poll as they picked up all 11 first place votes. The three Utah teams are next with Utah State jumping two spots from four to two and Weber State moving from fifth to third in the rankings.
After the Utes at four, Northern Arizona rounds out the top five after debuting at number two in the first ranking last month.
San Diego State stayed put at number six followed by San Jose State who moved up three spots from ninth to seventh. Texas A&M stayed at eight, Cal State Fullerton cracked the top ten at number nine, and Denver still holds on to the final playoff spot at number ten.
Loyola Marymount is the first team outside the playoffs at 11 after starting the year at number seven in the poll. Arizona State’s Pac-8 team moved up one spot at number 12 while North Texas slipped two spots to 13.
UNLV and Cal State Long Beach made their debuts in the top 15 this season as they come in at number 14 and 15. Dallas Baptist, Boise State, Montana Tech, and Washington all recieved votes as well.
The Utes went 4-2 in the second ranking period with wins over Washington State and Oregon while losing on the road to Utah State and Weber State.
The next ranking will be relased sometime during the Holiday break, as December 15th is the last day of games for the ranking period. So far the Utes are 2-2 in the ranking period and have three games left before the Christmas break.
The Utes are off Thanksgiving week and will be back in action on December 6th against Utah State.
