Utah W1 releases 2024-2025 schedule

The University of Utah Women’s Division 1 (W1) hockey program has announced its 2024-2025 regular season schedule. The Skatin’ Utes will enter their fifth season playing at the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) W1 level. Additionally, the Utes will continue to play in the Women’s Western Collegiate Hockey League (WWCHL).

After a 10-13-1 season last season, the Skatin’ Utes will be looking to rebound this season with a very busy fall schedule and 25 total regular season games.

The season will open on the road at the University of Colorado, facing off against the WWCHL rival Buffaloes on September 27th and 28th, 2024

Utah returns home the following weekend to battle WWCHL rival University of Wyoming for Home Opening Weekend.

From there, the W1 team heads North for another WWCHL rivalry series against Montana State University on October 11th and 12th, 2024.

Continuing in WWCHL conference play, the Utes head to the desert for two games against Grand Canyon University. Additionally, the team will play two games against the newly minted University of Arizona Women’s team for two neutral site games. Utah will be in Phoenix on October 17-20 taking on the Antelopes and the Wildcats.

The Skatin’ Utes round out October with one more road trip to Colorado State University on October 25 and 26th in Fort Collins, Colorado.

Utah returns to Salt Lake City on Friday, November 1st, and Saturday, November 2nd as they host Montana State University. They will face off against the Bobcats for their second conference series of the season.

After Utah’s bye weekend, Utah will have two home weekends in a row. They will host the University of Colorado on November 15th and 16th and seasonal powerhouse Midland University on November 21st, 22nd, and 23rd.

The Utes will then begin a two-week break for the Thanksgiving Holiday, before hosting the University of Massachusetts, Amherst for the first December games in team history on December 6th and 7th, 2024.

The team was scheduled to be in Tucson in January, but those games were moved to October to accommodate last minute changes with the rink schedule.

On February 7th and 8th, Utah travels to the Mile High City to face WWCHL rivals the University of Denver. The Utes look to continue their winning streak against the Pioneers.

In what could have conference ramifications for the final home series of the season, Utah hosts Grand Canyon on February 14th and 15th. Senior night will be celebrated on Saturday, February 15 at 7:30 pm MDT.

The WWCHL Championships travels to Phoenix, Arizona this season and is scheduled for February 21-23. Utah hosted this tournament in 2020 and 2024.

The Utes are seeking their first-ever WWCHL Championship along with the auto bid to the ACHA National Tournament.
