Utes head to Seattle for PAC-8 Matchup

After spending the last week off for the Thanksgiving holiday, The Utah Skatin’ Utes return to the ice this weekend as they take on the Washington Huskies in Seattle this weekend.
The meeting with the Huskies also marks Utah’s return to PAC 8 Conference play for their fifth and sixth conference games of the season. The Utes are currently 3-1 in PAC 8 play and are ranked 2nd in the KRACH rankings behind Arizona State in the conference.
This weekend is the first and only meeting between these two conference foes this season. The Utes were 5-0 against Washington last year, outscoring the Huskies 40-5 in the five games one season ago.
Washington comes into this weekend with a 6-8-1 record and is 4-6 in conference play this season. The Huskies haven’t been on the ice since November 15th, where they lost to UCLA 4-3 in California.
The Huskies have a similar roster to the one last season, which includes Ryan Minkoff, who won the ACHA Division II scoring title last season for amassing the most points of anyone in the entire country. This year Minkoff has picked up where he left off last year and most of his college career, leading the team in points with 41 in just 11 games this season.
In net once again is Jacob Gilmore for Washington, who is 2-6 on the season with a 3.56 GAA and .888 save percentage.
The third ranked Utes come into the weekend with a 15-7-1 record and are coming off a 2-2 record in the Beehive Showcase two weeks ago, beating #5 Montana Tech 8-2 and Texas A&M 13-0.
Leading the Utes in scoring is Josh Dangel, who has 35 points on the season so far. In between the pipes, Chris Komma is 13-5-1 with a 2.72 GAA and .907 save percentage and three shutouts while Devan Betts is 2-2 with a 4.11 GAA and .776 save percentage.
Friday and Saturday’s games both start at 9pm PT and will take place at OlympicView Arena in Mountlake Terrace, WA. Both games will be broadcasted live on our youtube page.
