Salt Lake City, UT
With only a few games played during the month of December, the Utes were able to hold on to their second spot in the third of four ACHA West Rankings that will be released this season.
The rankings only saw slight changes to the top 18 teams in the West with Arizona State, Utah, Utah State, Northern Arizona, Arizona State Maroon, Weber State, Montana Tech, and Northern Colorado all holding on to their 1-8 spots in the poll. The only change in the top ten was between UNLV and Boise State, who flip flopped as UNLV is now at nine and Boise State now at ten.
Denver and Long Beach State still hold on to the final two spots at Regionals in 11th and 12th, followed by Cal State Northridge, San Jose State, Wyoming, Texas A&M, San Diego State, and BYU rounding ou the top 18.
Washington, LMU, USC, and Cal State Fullerton all received votes as well.
With the third ranking being released, the Utes now know their first round opponent for the 2nd Annual Wasatch Cup hosted by Weber State at the end of January. The Utes will take on BYU in the first round of the tournament with Utah State taking on host Weber State in the other semifinal. The tournament begins on January 29th with the championship game taking place on January 30th.
