Salt Lake City, Utah
University of Utah Hockey has received a commitment from Defenseman Ethan Noonan for the upcoming 2021-22 season.
Ethan has been playing hockey since the age of three when his parents put him in a learn-to-skate program. He started his hockey career with a local club team. As he grew and became more dedicated to the sport, he transitioned from playing club hockey to the more competitive Highland Park Falcons in the Central States Developmental Hockey League. During the first season (2015-2016) with the Falcons, Noonan helped the team place second in the CSDHL and the following year (2016-2017), they won the league, took first place in the state tournament, and, ultimately, went on to win the National Championship.
This opened doors for Noonan to have an opportunity to play at an even higher level, playing for a AAA team, the Milwaukee Jr. Admirals, for the next two seasons during his U15 and U16 years (2017-2019). For his Junior year in high school, Noonan moved to Rochester, Minnesota to play for the Rochester Grizzlies in the North American Tier 3 Hockey League. Even though COVID-19 cut the season short, the team still ended strong with a Central Division title in the NA3HL and this year they finished the season with the second-best record in the league, won a central division championship and went all the way to the National Championship game where they placed second.
“Noonan will be a big addition to our defensive core. He is a strong skater with high hockey IQ and great playmaking abilities. He always plays with an edge and makes his presence known every time he steps on the ice. He will bring high energy and drive to our team which will undoubtedly translate to success. We are very excited to have Ethan join Utah hockey,” Men’s Division 1 Head Coach Morgan Feenie said.
Noonan plans to study Business Accounting at the U.
Utah Hockey would like to welcome Ethan and wish him the absolute best in the upcoming season!
