Salt Lake City, Utah
University of Utah Hockey has received a commitment from Defenseman Hayden Tomechak for the upcoming 2021-22 season.
Hayden is from San Diego, California. He began playing hockey at the age of 3 in Southern California. I started playing club hockey with the San Diego Jr. Gulls and also played with the San Diego Ice Arena (SDIA) Oilers. During high school, he played with the Pacific Ridge Firebirds. While with the Firebirds, he made the all star team for the Anaheim Ducks High School Hockey League (ADHSHL). He has been the team captain on both of these teams.
“Hayden’s size and skill on defense will be huge for us this year. His ability to get shots to the net for offensive opportunities, and clear traffic in front of our net will be very valuable. We are exited to have him on the squad this season,” Men’s Division 2 Head Coach Nick Fornelius said.
When he is not playing hockey, he likes to play golf and go to the beach.
“I’m very excited to continue my hockey career at the University of Utah,” said Tomechak.
Tomechak is planning on studying Pre-Medicine at the U.
Utah Hockey would like to welcome Hayden and wish him the absolute best in the upcoming season!
