Salt Lake City, Utah
University of Utah Hockey has received a commitment from Forward Nick Madej for the upcoming 2021-22 season.
Nick was born in Elk Grove, Illinois and grew up about an hour outside of Chicago in Huntley, IL. He grew up playing for the Northwest Chargers and West Dundee Leafs in the Central States Developmental Hockey League. Madej attended FOO High School where he played on the Kings Hockey Club team. After high school, he moved to Ohio to University of Toledo for a year where he played with the Rockets. He then transferred to Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois to play hockey for the ACHA D2 Flyers and participated in the D2 All-Star challenge in 2019. He finished his career at Lewis with 65 points in 72 games and then graduated in 2020 with a Bachelor’s in Biology and a Minor in Mathematics.
“I’m extremely excited to be joining such a promising program and be a part of a new family here at the school,” said Madej.
In the off-season you can find him hiking around and playing as much rat ice as possible.
“Nick comes to us with prior experience playing college hockey that we will rely on heavily this season on the ice and in the locker room. I expect him to be a great addition for us on the ice and have no doubt his leadership in the locker will prove invaluable,” Men’s Division 2 Head Coach Nick Fornelius said.
Madej will be pursuing a Master’s in Public Health with a focus in Epidemiology at the U.
Utah Hockey would like to welcome Nick and wish him the absolute best in the upcoming season!
