Utah faces #16 Oklahoma for first time in Utah
February 22, 2019
Salt Lake City, UT
Only two weeks remain this season for the University of Utah Skatin’ Utes as they begin a final four-game home stand this weekend against the Oklahoma Sooners.
This marks the first time that Oklahoma has visited the Utah Ice Sheet in program history. The Utes and Sooners met for the first time last season, with Oklahoma picking up 4-0 and 6-0 wins over the Utes in Oklahoma.
The Utes sit at 10-14-0-1 on the season and are back home this weekend after a pair of losses on the road against now 18th ranked Alabama last weekend in Pelham. They’ll look to bounce back at home as they face a ranked opponent for the fifth straight week.
The Sooners come into the weekend with a 15-11-2 record and are ranked 16th in this week’s ACHA Division 1 computer rankings. Oklahoma is in one of the last four at-large spots for the National tournament heading into the weekend and will need a good showing against the Utes to keep their national championship hopes alive.
Friday and Saturday night’s contests begin at 7:30pm MT at the Utah Ice Sheet in Salt Lake City, UT.
