Utah M2 travels to Florida Gulf Coast University

For only the second time in Men’s Division 2 history, the University of Utah will play Florida Gulf Coast University. This game however, will occur in Ft Myers, Florida instead of the State of Sport.
The last occurrence was March 21, 2015 when both Utah Head Coach Nick Fornelius and Florida Gulf Coast University Head Coach Eric Marble battled it out as players at the ACHA Men’s Division 2 National Championships in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Florida Gulf is off to a hot start with a record of 4-0. They have outscored both M2 Liberty University and M2 University of Iowa for a total of 28-7.
Leading the FGCU Eagles, both with eight points is Forward Shune Tomlinson and Jake Court. Three other forwards have tallied 7 points, including Jaiz Barner, Cole Bauman, and Adam Beauvais.
Between the pipes, Goaltender Keegan Wise has three games played with a Goals Against of 2.00 and a .931 save percentage.
FGCU is four time ACHA Men’s Division 2 National Champion, securing wins in 2012, 2016, 2018, 2019.
The Utes are currently 4-3 this season outscoring their opponents 28-21 with wins against Utah Valley, Utah State, Montana, and University of Providence.
Fourteen players have tallied points for Utah, with Forwards Connor Beers and Marco Honda leading the charge. Ethan Overman, Maxwell Hove, Adam Kural, and Cole Turner are also point leaders for the team.
Utah Sophomore Goaltender Ryan Winkelmann has led the team between the pipes and performed very well for his second season with the Utes.
Utah M2 plays at 6:30 MST on Friday, and 4:00 PM on Saturday afternoon.
Both games will occur at Hertz Arena, home arena for the ECHL Florida Everblades.
