Salt Lake City, Utah
University of Utah Hockey has received a commitment from Defenseman Michael Brown for the upcoming 2021-22 season.
Michael was born and raised in Sandy, Utah, where he grew up playing street hockey with his childhood friend, McKay Pond throughout elementary school.
He has played for various local teams such as the Salt Lake Lightning Youth Hockey Bantam, Utah Jr. Grizzlies U16, and Park City Ice Miners U18. He also played for Alta High School Falcons, where he graduated.
After he graduated in 2020, he moved to Minnesota to play Juniors in the United States Premier Hockey League Midwest West division with the Minnesota Mullets.
“Going into the recruitment camp, I wasn’t sure what my plans were going to be. As the camp progressed, I caught up with old friends and was welcomed by the returning players. I knew this team and school was going to be a great fit for me. I’m glad to be getting in on the ground floor with this new team to help me grow and work my way up,” said Brown.
Brown plans to study Civil Engineering at the U.
“Michael will bring great size to us on the defensive end of the ice. His physicality and high hockey IQ will be invaluable especially in the defensive and neutral zones of the ice,” Men’s Division 2 Head Coach Nick Fornelius said.
Utah Hockey would like to welcome Michael and wish him the absolute best in the upcoming season!
