Utah M2 punches ticket to PAC-8 Championships

The University of Utah Skatin’ Utes M2 team will look for their fourth PAC-8 Championship next month as the team travels to Spokane, Washington for the 2023 PAC-8 Championship Tournament from February 10-12, 2023.
Utah secured the 2nd seed in the tournament by going 13-3 in conference play this season. Their first game will be against University of Southern California on Friday, February 10th at 5PM MST. Utah is 2-0 against the Trojans this season.
Utah joined the PAC-8 in 2011 and departed the conference in 2016 with their move to Division 1. Utah was approved to add an American Collegiate Hockey Association Division 2 team again in April of 2021. The team had played in the championship every year they have participated in the conference. The Utes have won 3 titles 2013, 2015, 2016, with 2nd place finishes in 2012 and 2014. The PAC-8 did not conduct post season play for the 2021 or 2022 season.
The tournament, previously held in Lake Tahoe, will take place February 9-12, 2023 with 8 teams competing for the coveted conference championship. A tournament win also includes an automatic bid to the 2023 ACHA Western Regional Tournament in Salt Lake City from February 23-25, 2023. The tournament will hosted by University of Utah.

Format:
The single elimination tournament will feature top 8 teams in the conference for the 2022-23 season. This single elimination tournament is the same as the ACHA Division 2 Regional format. The tournament winner will secure an Auto-bid to the 2023 ACHA Western Regional Tournament in Salt Lake City from February 23-25, 2023.

Game 2 (1:00PM): #1 Washington VS #8 Washington State (WATCH)
Game 3 (4:00PM): #2 Utah VS #7 USC (WATCH)
Game 4 (7:00PM): #3 California VS #6 Eastern Washington (WATCH)
Saturday, Feb 11th, 2023:
Game 5 (1:00PM): Lowest Seed vs Highest Seed (Home Team)
Game 6 (4:00PM): 2nd Lowest Seed vs 2nd Highest Seed (Home Team)
Sunday, Feb 12th, 2023:
Game 7 (11:00 AM): CHAMPIONSHIP GAME (Higher Seed Home Team)
Overtime format for all games:(if necessary):
1. Teams will switch ends (long change)
2. 20 minute 5 on 5 sudden death overtime period
3. If no goal is scored, there will be an intermission with an ice make
4. Teams will switch ends (short change)
5. Another 20 minute 5 on 5 sudden death overtime period
6. Repeat steps 1 through 5 until a goal is score
